Description
This is a fine example of a Spanish Model 1893 Mauser bayonet, manufactured at the renowned Artilleria Fabrica Nacional in Toledo, Spain. A quintessential piece of late 19th-century military history, this bayonet was designed for use with the Spanish Mauser rifle, a weapon famously utilized during the Spanish-American War. The blade's ricasso features the clear, stamped hallmark of the 'Artilleria Nacional Toledo' alongside the crossed cannons emblem, signifying its official military production. The hilt is constructed with a contoured steel pommel and a crossguard with a muzzle ring. The grip scales are made of original checkered wood, secured by two flush-mounted steel rivets. The blade exhibits a deep fuller, characteristic of the M1893 pattern. This specimen is in good antique condition, showing a natural aged patina on the steel components and honest wear on the wooden grips consistent with its age and service history. The markings remain crisp and legible, making it a desirable acquisition for collectors of European militaria and edged weapons.
