A French military unit insignia for the 3e Bataillon de Zouaves (3rd Zouave Battalion). The shield-shaped badge features a blue enamel field with the motto 'HVO VOVE VINDE' across the top. A central vertical bayonet with a red handle separates the number '3' and the letter 'Z'. The metal badge is mounted on a red felt backing.
