Beskrivelse

This antique Indo-Persian powder flask, likely dating from the 19th century, is a fine example of traditional metalwork. Crafted from brass, the flask features a distinctive curved horn silhouette, characteristic of powder containers used throughout the Middle East and Indian subcontinent. The body is decorated with intricate pierced openwork in a geometric diamond pattern, which served both an aesthetic purpose and potentially allowed for the monitoring of powder levels if lined with a secondary material. The flask is equipped with two integrated suspension rings, designed for attachment to a belt or shoulder strap. The construction shows evidence of hand-tooling and traditional joinery. The surface exhibits a rich, aged patina with areas of oxidation and darkening consistent with its age and historical use. The nozzle end shows wear, and the overall condition is fair to good, retaining its structural integrity while displaying the honest wear of a functional military or hunting implement. This piece represents a significant collectible for enthusiasts of ethnographic arms and armor or Islamic metalwork.
